On the second and final day of the Africa Global Business Forum yesterday, President Danny Faure was invited to share his experience on the success of our economic programme.
President Faure also talked about the leadership role of Seychelles in the Continent in areas such as maritime security, environment, sustainable development, social protection of citizens, the rule of law, inclusive growth, and the integration of Africa into the global economy.
He also explained the important role of transparency, accountability and good governance and the building of strong institutions as the way forward to meet the challenges of our times.
Speaking to the 1,200 delegates attending the forum, President Faure called on governments and the private sector to build a new alliance and a stronger partnership that will allow Africa to use the opportunities created by new technologies to catapult the improvement in the quality of life of its citizens.
Meanwhile on the first day of the forum President Faure was received by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.
President Faure mentioned that out of the 35,000 trips that our citizens made in the first nine months of this year, one third visited Dubai.
“I wanted to thank him for the hospitality the UAE has afforded to our citizens,” said President Faure.
“Furthermore, the UAE has now become our third biggest tourism market. This highlights the UAE’s evolving role in our economy, our trade, and in our investment,” President Faure added.
This is the fourth time that the Forum has been held, and its theme for this year is ‘Next Generation Africa’.
The Forum’s focus was the next phase of growth and development on the Continent and explored the potential for leveraging technology to accelerate growth across Africa; discuss the power of the emerging private sector; identify the opportunities for financing; and partnering with Africa’s dynamic entrepreneurs.
